How to Play Fight Song Fantasy™

Long Teams vs. Short Team

Each squad consists of 9 FBS teams: 8 Long Teams you want to win each week, and 1 Short Team you want to lose. Both a win (Long) and a loss (Short) score the same way — so picking the right Short team is just as strategic as your Long picks.

In-Season Trades

Once the season begins, each squad may make up to 3 trades for the entire season.

How a Trade Works

  1. Drop first: Select one of your current teams to release. The dropped team immediately re-enters the open pool for its pick type.
  2. Add second: Pick any currently available team of the same pick type (Long → Long, Short → Short).
  3. Your squad size stays at exactly 9 teams throughout.

Key Restrictions

  • 3-trade season limit — once you have used all three trades, no further roster changes are allowed for the rest of the season.
  • Pick-type lock — you can only trade Long teams for Long teams, and your Short team for another available Short team.
  • Same-week block: if the team you drop has already played a game in the current scoring week, you cannot add a replacement team that plays later in that same week. This prevents cross-week point harvesting by benefiting from two different teams in a single scoring week through a mid-week trade.
  • Postseason lock — no trades are permitted once the postseason has begun. All rosters are frozen for the remainder of the season.
  • Historical scores preserved — trading a team does not change any points already earned. Past weekly score records remain attached to the squad that owned the team at kickoff.
